Murdered over missing N$20
WALVIS BAY - A 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday evening in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay after he allegedly fatally stabbed a 23-year-old man in a dispute over money. Namibian Police Deputy Commissioner for the Erongo Region, Ottilie Kashuupulwa, yesterday said the incident took place at the residence of the deceased. According to her the suspect’s girlfriend, who is the sister of the deceased, “lost her N$20,” and she suspected her brother might have taken it. She apparently told her boyfriend the money was lost and that she suspected her brother was behind the disappearance of the N$20 note.“The suspect confronted the woman’s brother and the two got into a heated argument. The suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck. The deceased died on the scene from the single stab wound,” Kashupuulwa explained. According to her the suspect apparently fled from the scene but was later apprehended by the police and is currently in police custody awaiting to be arraigned. He is expected to appear today on a charge of murder in the Walvis Bay magistrates’ court.
