2015-10-29Staff Report 2 Windhoek Namibia’s leading tennis player Deon van Dyk lost his singles match against Aziz Dougaz, currently ranked 54 by the ATP, going down in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Van Dyk hit the ball very cleanly, but missed his shots at crucial moments while Dougaz did not allow the Namibian to find his rhythm, as he kept him under pressure all the time. The Namibian missed a few great opportunities for break points, but the more experienced Dougaz just stayed one step ahead during the exciting encounter. It was a bad day for the out of luck Namibians, with Tuki Jacobs losing his singles match against Malek Jaziri ranked 92 by the ATP, succumbing to a 6-0 and 6-1 scoreline. Jaziri played all the Slams this year and lost in the 3rd round of the Australian Open. The Tunisian made no mistake unleashing point-on-accurate shots, moving the ball all over the court. Jacobs played really well, but could just not get the ball away from Jazira, who glided over the court with his effortless style. Tunisia’s Malek Jaziri won the first set against Roger Federer before losing 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in February 2013. To worsen matters, Van Dyk and Deon and Henco Serdyn were also on the receiving end in the doubles, losing against Majed Kilani and Skander Mansouri 6-0 and 6-2. “We tried our best, but the Tunisians played exceptional tennis at a different level.
