Namibia Too Brave for Zim Warriors
By Carlos Kambaekwa WINDHOEK Namibia's second strings football team took a giant step towards making their appearance at the finals of the maiden edition of the African Nations Championships to be held in Ivory Coast next year. The under-strength Brave Warriors side held the Zimbabweans to a goalless draw during the first leg of the newly introduced continental tournament at the national stadium in Harare on Sunday. The Tournament will only feature local-based players and even Namibian footballers plying their trade in other African leagues such as Angola and South Africa are ineligible for selection. Under-20s Fail Again Namibia's Under-20 football eleven failed to join in with big brother as they were bundled out of the African Youth Cup preliminaries by a gutsy Botswana in Gaborone, on the same day. After drawing their first leg match against the Young Zebras in Windhoek more than a fortnight ago, the Namibians were left with a mammoth task to turn the tables in the second leg. Botswana won by a solitary goal (1-0 and 2-1 on aggregate) to go through to the next round while it will be the same old story for the permanently luckless young Warriors.
