Two Namibian entrepreneurs vie for US$1 million prize
2015-10-08Staff Report 2 Windhoek - Two Namibian Entrepreneurs under the leadership of BCME Bank of Africa partner and mentor Sylvanie Beukes will be headed to Morocco’s Marrakech for the African Entrepreneurship Finale. Llewellyn Dunaiski and Toivo Thomas have been selected from among 34 entrepreneurs as finalists in the running for the US$1 million prize. The finalists from 16 countries were invited to Morocco from October 9 to 11 to present their business ventures to a Presidential Jury in Marrakech in October. The winners of the US$1 million envelope will be announced on October 12. Thomas, who is a final-year pre-medicine student in the United States of America, was selected for his Agri-Cycle business, which intends to recycle nutrient-rich waste by converting it into useful products for various applications through the use of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF). Thomas says the BSF larvae can be used as a safe and sustainable protein melee for animal feed, high quality biodegradable oil for bio-diesel production and process-able chitin for pharmaceutical applications. Dunaiski was selected for his Quench Namibia business idea, which will exclusively operate 10 mobile solar powered station vendors at major intersections across Windhoek. Each station will retail Oasis pure spring mineral water at a competitive market price to residents on the go, including drivers, passengers, cyclists, athletes or pedestrians. by Staff Reporter 2015-10-08Staff Report 2
