Namibians make return to CAF Champions League
WINDHOEK – Following years of self-imposed exile, Namibian football teams will make a welcome return to continental club competition next year and reigning champions Black Africa could not have asked for a better reception than a mouth-watering tie against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs. The undisputed Namibian champions have been pitted against the South African champions in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Club Champions League and travel to Johannesburg to confront the Amakhosi in the opening leg on the weekend of 9 February 7 - 9 2014 with the decisive second leg slated for Windhoek a week later. ,Realistically, Black Africa look destined for an abbreviated journey in Africa’s plum club football competition but the clash against Chiefs could go a long way in filling up the financial coffers of the Katutura giants as Chiefs enjoy a massive following in Namibia. Katutura glamour football club African Stars open their assault in the less lucrative CAF Confederation Cup with a home tie against Atletico Pedro Leos from neighbouring Angola on the first weekend of February next year with the return leg to be played in Angola.
