NAPHA Holds Workshop for Hunters
"By Mandisa Rasmeni WINDHOEK The Education Committee of the Namibia Professional Hunting Association (NAPHA) recently presented a two-day workshop for hunting assistants and camp attendants to coincide with its 33rd AGM. Some 71 NAPHA-registered hunting assistants and camp attendants participated in the educational workshop. The workshop included an HIV/AIDS course whichÃÆ'Æ'ÀÃ...ÃÆ''šÃ‚ covered information on the situation in Namibia andÃÆ'Æ'ÀÃ...ÃÆ''šÃ‚ basic information on HIV/AIDS which includes advice for positive living, as well asÃÆ'Æ'ÀÃ...ÃÆ''šÃ‚ information on the availability of Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. AIDS Care Trust (ACT) presented the course. A cookery course was presented by Antoinette de Chavonnes Vrugt of Gourmet Caterers for the NAPHA camp attendants, including detailed, hands-on demonstrations on preparing exciting and delicious internationally appealing starters, main courses and desserts, focusing on the use of easily obtainable local ingredients. Hunting assistants then went on to do an intensive skinning presented by master taxidermist, Van Rooyen Strydom, of Nyati Wildlife Art. The Meat Board and all the other ingredients by the newly-opened Super Spar sponsored the meat, while theÃÆ'Æ'ÀÃ...ÃÆ''šÃ‚ International Freight Way Airfreight Logistics (IFN) and Nyati Wildlife Art made considerable cash contributions towards the costs of the workshop. The workshop was a great success. After the workshop, a certificate presentation was held. Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Becky Ndjoze Ojo, said she was delighted to be associated with NAPHA and sharing in the empowering occasion that the educational workshop provided. She stated that whenever and wherever they need a strong foundation for whatever they do, empowerment of the workforce is the answer. ""Learning is said to be from the cradle to the grave, and this venture has proven that learning is and can be lifelong,"" she concluded."
