NBL sponsors United Stars and Julinho
Rundu Rundu outfits United Stars and Julinho Sporting FC recently became beneficiaries of training gear and other sporting accessories sponsored by Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL). The two premier league teams each received 17 jerseys, three soccer balls, 200 vuvuzelas, two NBL banners and one NBL gazebo. Rundu Chiefs, which also hails from Rundu, was not among the beneficiaries as the team was unfortunately not part of the premier league when the sponsorship deal was concluded between NBL and the two clubs last year. “Unfortunately this was arranged during mid-season, when Rundu Chiefs was still not part of the premier league, but they must not feel left out,” said Jonathan Jonathan, sales representative at the NBL Rundu depot. “This is to encourage the teams as well as other teams in the region to work hard. On our part we will always try to assist sports where we can. We have realised that these guys don’t have all the necessary training equipment, so we thought let’s step in and assist them with various training kits,” said Chrissy Mukena, the area sales manager for Rundu and Katima Mulilo NBL depots. The two teams joined in thanking NBL for the timely sponsorship. “So far it’s a good start, it’s something that we were not prepared for as it came as a surprise and at a time when we needed it the most,” said Mubita Clif, the Julinho manager. “We would really like to thank NBL for honouring their social responsibility through this kind gesture. We will also promote them at all our games by advising people to drink responsibly,” said United Stars team manager Manfred Mangundu.
