NFA launches title sponsor for Women’s Championship
"

WINDHOEK - Telecom Namibia, together with the NFA, yesterday officially launched its Africa Women Championship 2014 title brand sponsorship to the tune of N$6 million. This sponsorship means the tourney will be officially known as the TN Mobile CAF Women Football Championship.

Speaking at the launch, Telecom Namibia’s Managing Director, Frans Ndoroma, called on Namibian corporate companies to emulate Telecom by investing in sport and sponsoring major sporting events such as the upcoming African Women Championships.

“The mere fact that TN Mobile is the title sponsor of the Women Championship speaks volumes of Telecom’s rapid maturity and growth. It will be the right course for local corporate businesses to support sport.”

Ndoroma further called on the local public to support TN Mobile products since the more they use such products, the more funds will trickle back for reinvestment into football and other sports development programmes in Namibia.

President of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) John Muinjo said the launch of the sponsorship marked a milestone in the history of local football and signalled an important partnership deal between CAF and Telecom Namibia.

Muinjo expressed delight and gratitude towards Telecom Namibia for their quick embracement of the tournament by making an early pledge to support the NFA in hosting a successful event at the very first moment Namibia was awarded the hosting rights in September last year. “Although they are new players in the area of football, Telecom Namibia already showed positive signs of contributing towards the development of football by foreseeing the hosting of the championship would accelerate the development of sports in general,” he said.

Muinjo called on the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) not to rest on their laurels, urging them to ensure they remain hands on and pay attention to details in making sure Namibia hosts a successful tourney.

The Namibian football supremo informed the gathering that the draw for the championship would be conducted on July 19 in Windhoek. This decision was taken strategically by the CAF Executive to promote Namibia and give Telecom Namibia the much needed mileage to promote its products. CAF also holds the television and broadcasting rights to the championship.

“Without your support, the team will not be successful on the field of play because Namibia will not be fielding a team to add numbers but a formidable squad that will put up a decent showing,” he concluded.
