Nored, MTC in digital transformation deal

ONDANGWA – The Northern Electricity Distributor (Nored) and MTC have signed an agreement which will see the two entities collaborate in digitalising the electricity industry.

With this agreement, the two entities subscribed to a strategic and smart collaboration, and asserted that partnerships of this nature can bring about meaningful impacts towards social welfare and economic transformation.

The agreement will focus on digitally transforming smart grid support, capacity adequacy and security of supply, improving efficiency and transparency of service delivery as well as improving and aligning processes and systems. It will also transform transaction services, enhancing the data-driven business process, give better access to the management and protection of information, enhancing citizen satisfaction and trust, and supporting and nurturing local digital innovation and solutions.

Nored CEO Fillemon Nakashole said the partnership will focus on using digital and technological solutions to improve customer experiences and solving electricity deployment challenges. Nakashole noted that the two entities will work together to develop relationships, and identify areas of mutual concern and problems that the two can tackle together.

“This agreement covers an organisation of activities to support the Namibian public sector by facilitating the provision of digital solutions and innovation in view of supporting electrification and mitigating Nored’s challenges,” Nakashole continued. MTC managing director Licky Erastus said with this agreement, MTC will assist Nored to transform the electricity industry digitally with smart solutions. He said digitalisation is here, and the country’s premier digital enabler MTC is ready to assist Nored on its path to digital transformation.

“Incessantly, we are required to enhance the service provision to our stakeholders/customers through the latest and relevant technologies that strengthen our competencies in a digital area,” Erastus added.
