NTTA plans greatest Liebherr Masters Cup
Windhoek The Namibian Table Tennis Association (NTTA) is determined to make this year’s edition of the traditional Masters Cup tourney the greatest ever. Not only will spectators at the Wernhil shopping centre in Windhoek witness eight of Namibia’s finest senior table tennis players in action, but NTTA has also made provision for an array of show acts to promote the sport. The event is slated for this coming Saturday, March 12, with action starting at 09h30. Liebherr Namibia has jumped on board for the 2nd year in a row and is the official sponsor of the Masters Cup 2016. Prize money will be available for participating aces. As per NTTA rules and regulations, the eight best-placed senior players from the previous season (2015) will battle it out for supremacy. Players that will be in action are Heiko Fleidl (SKWTTC) – defending champion, Wayne Green (SKWTTC), Roger Beukes (ETTC), Reinolt Schurz (SKWTTC), Fabian Tait (HATTC), Rudi Saunderson (HATTC), Derrick Rooza (WBTTC) and Ronaldo Vogel (Rehoboth High School). The Masters Cup will be contested in a round robin format, where all players will confront each other while matches will be played according to a three-game must-win system. The player with the highest number of victories from each match will be declared the overall winner and the duration of the matches will be approximately 15 minutes. “We wish to extend a general invite to the entire nation and the esteemed media to come out en masse and support local table tennis in big numbers. In addition, representatives from the various national table tennis clubs will be present to answer table tennis related questions,” NTTA chairman Ramon Hansen said. Interested parties may visit the NTTA new website namtta.leaguerepublic.com for further table tennis related news or contact details.
