Ode to bro Cakestroh
The Namibian football fraternity is in shock following the sad news that former Black Africa and Saint Joseph Secondary School (Dobra) lanky shot stopper Naftalie ‘Koekie’ Naobeb, also known as Cakestroh amongst his circle of school friends, has exited the game of life. Cakes joined the Gemengde outfit in the mid-seventies replacing the ageing Hubert Mootseng and played a pivotal role in the club’s upsurge as the star-studded Red and Black strip outfit dominated domestic football with breathtaking performances week in and week out. The ebony-skinned goalkeeper skipped his native land at the height of apartheid and only returned to his motherland upon Namibia’s independence in 1990. Bro Cakes rejoined his beloved club on the technical staff, masterminding the club’s fortunes. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
