Okaukuejo ready to welcome guests
Windhoek Over the past few weeks the Okaukuejo rest camp has held a clean-up campaign in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and some community members in the Etosha National Park to get the camp ready for guests who will be visiting it in March for the Independence Special offering. The clean-up campaign did not only focus on the inside of the camp, but was extended to the residential areas as well. Okaukuejo camp manager Katriena Hoeses stated: “This being a joint effort between the key partners within the national park it was a good sign of what we can achieve when we work together. At the same time, I would want to encourage our visitors to avoid littering when they visit us.” During the clean-up a number of old linen was identified and handed to needy learners of Khorab High School in Otavi. The handover of the linen was done on February 20 and was received by Rosemary Timbo Gaomas, who is a hostel superintendent and Helena Gertze who is a teacher at the school. Hoeses said: “Through this gesture we once again fulfilled our social responsibility towards the Namibian nation and will continue looking at ways in which we can help communities around the camp.”
