Omaheke initiates transport expo
"GOBABIS – The Ounongo Technology Centre together with the Omaheke Youth Forum in partnership with the Ministry of Works and Transport and Roads Authority (RA) plans to host the first ever transport expo in Namibia. Ounongo Technology Centre and its stakeholder partners, among them TransNamib last Friday held a pre-event meeting in Gobabis, Omaheke Region,  to launch the planning of the first ever transport expo to be hosted in the country. Officiating at the pre-event, the Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Kilus Nguvauva, said transport and infrastructure development is among the fastest growing sectors and is regarded as a window of business opportunities for storage facilities, logistics, roads and railway maintenance, aviation and many more, creating much needed employment. The organisers said in a statement that “the whole idea of this expo is to bring the transport sector together to explore the possible opportunities that should benefit young people and what possible careers are there for young people to consider taking up,” adding that the pre-event was to bring stakeholders in the transport fraternity together to share ideas on the expo. The pre-event was sponsored by Transnamib, while the Roads Authority pledged N$10 000 for the logistical preparations and is prepared to offer more support as the planning continues. “We hope to see more sponsors” said Operi Murangi, one of the organisers of the event. The expo is planned for the last week of June this year in Gobabis, Omaheke Region.     By John Muyamba"
