Otjinene to host its first expo
"Windhoek The recently proclaimed Otjinene Village Council (OVC) in the Omaheke Region is set to host its first expo, with the aim of boosting the local economy. Speaking to New Era yesterday, OVC chief executive officer Nathaniel Karuaihe said the main purpose of the expo is to create a platform for the inhabitants of the constituency and its surroundings to exhibit and promote their business. He said the expo would furthermore promote the village as an ideal place for those looking for investment opportunities. ""As you know Otjinene was recently proclaimed a village council and our aim is to introduce our stunning village to the rest of the world,"" he said. He said the expo will also assist inhabitants of Otjinene Constituency to access better markets for their products and services. The expo will take place at the village of Otjinene between April 26 and May 1. According to Karuaihe, the six-day programme is crowded with, among other activities, business-to-business sessions, which will also serve as procurement connection points for large corporates and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). “There will be music competitions, traditional dramas, agricultural shows and many other activities,” he said. He said apart from that the village also wants to attract banks such as Bank Windhoek and First National Bank (FNB) and many other investors to invest in hotels and other projects. Among those who would grace the occasion are the Omaheke Regional Governor, Festus Ueitele, and Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development Immanuel Ngatjizeko. “The preparatory committee is hard at work preparing for the upcoming expo, and we are inviting all business-minded people, investors and everyone who likes entertainment to come and share this remarkable event in Otjinene,” said Karuaihe. Otjinene is a village in the Omaheke Region. It is the district capital of Otjinene Constituency. Otjinene is connected via a 157km tarred road to the regional capital Gobabis. The village has one service station, a Standard Bank branch, a supermarket and open markets.      "
