Our Fascinating Shipwrecks
By Fifi Rhodes SWAKOPMUND The Atlantic Ocean is well known for its gale force winds and heavy surf, but as they lie buried along the beaches of the Skeleton Coast many shipwrecks will remain as deep secrets of the sea. However, the most known wrecks along the coast can be found between Walvis Bay and the Kunene River mouth, just past Henties Bay. The Dunedin Star and the Kolmanskop are the two most visible of them all. The Dunedin Star is in the protected area of Skeleton Coast, while Kolmanskop is stranded on the rocks south of Swakopmund.
