Out the Old, In the New
"By Petronella Sibeene WINDHOEK Minister of Environment and Tourism Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has commended President Hifikepunye Pohamba for restructuring two government ministries. President Pohamba Tuesday announced that the directorate of communication in the then Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication but now Ministry of Works and Transport, be moved to what was known as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, now Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. Nandi-Ndaitwah said the world trend dictates that information and communication work together. ""It is not easy to separate the machinery in information from that of communication. It is a right decision to bring the two under one ministry,"" she said. Ndaitwah yesterday also introduced the new Minister of Information and Communication Technology Joel Kaapanda. She urged her former staff to render support to Kaapanda. Nandi-Ndaitwah says she leaves the ministry she led for three years, as an empowered person. She also used the platform to state that she was going to serve yet another sector crucial to Namibia's sustainable development. Meanwhile, former Minister of Works, Transport and Communication Kaapanda in his address informed his new managers that he likes cooperative, supportive and hard-working people. He added that honesty is not only ideal but also a tool for growth and success. ""Be truthful in what is happening. Give me a true picture and not selective scenarios in order for me to take proper decisions,"" he told managers at his new ministry. Kaapanda added that he comes from a different world of operation and thus will depend on the staff for their support. ""I am coming from a ministry where communication was a minute component but in this ministry, it is the core. I believe I will succeed if I have your support,"" he said. Managers within the ministry and chief executive officers of parastatals that fall under the ministry attended the meeting. "
