Outapi vendor kills girlfriend, commits suicide
Outapi A 25-year-old woman became the latest victim of an intimate relationship killing when she was brutally murdered, allegedly by her 30-year-old boyfriend, in the wee hours of yesterday morning at Outapi. The bloody corpse of hairdresser Johanna Hishinawa Angula was found in her bedroom. She had eight stab wounds. Her boyfriend, Jonas Shalongo Keengele, was found hanging from the roof of the same room. Warrant Officer Lineekela Shikongo of the Omusati Regional Police confirmed that Angula hailed from Oshikondiilongo village in Oshana Region. Keengele was a native of Epoko village in Omusati where he grew up in the house of the late headman. According to Shikongo, the suspect committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of a rope. While information on the incident was sketchy, it was reported that the deceased and the victim had an argument that could have led to their deaths. Shikongo said the suspect and victim were last seen alive by other tenants on Sunday afternoon at around 16:30 before they entered the deceased’s bedroom. Their bodies were discovered by tenants yesterday morning. The woman worked as a hairdresser in Outapi while the boyfriend was a street vendor who sold fruit. Angula was described as a beautiful woman who loved people. Neighbours further said she was a peace-loving person who abhorred confrontations. The remains were transported to the Okahao police mortuary for autopsy and the next of kin were informed. About five women have been murdered in Omusati Region so far this year.
