Outdoor hockey league returns

Outdoor hockey returns this Friday, with various games lined up for Friday and Saturday.

According to the Namibia Hockey Union secretary, they are expecting a competitive season.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Jens Unterlerchner said after a long break caused by the ongoing pandemic, they are pleased to return to the field.

He added they expect stiff competition in all leagues this season, since all teams are eager to play again.

“We are excited for the new season after months of inactivity, and we can’t wait to see new talented players who will be playing in the league. We are expecting all teams to bring their A-game,” said Unterlertchner.

Seven men’s and four women’s teams are ready to battle for champion status this season.

The league will run until the end of November.

A total of 150 spectators will be allowed inside the venue and masks will be enforced as part of the Covid-19 regulations.

Matches will be played at Windhoek High School (WHS) and Windhoek Afrikaans Private School (WAP).
