SWAKOPMUND - The Namibian police have arrested a 60-year-old in connection with the rape of a 13-year-old girl on Thursday. The rape allegedly took place at 11h00 at the DRC location in Swakopmund.

“It is alleged that the suspect had sexual acts with a minor, 13-year-old female, under coercive circumstances. He was arrested, and was expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Police investigations continue,’’ the police said in their weekly crime report.

Another rape was reported at Embeds village in the Ondobe constituency, Ohangwena region. This has allegedly been going on since 2019 and 2020 at unknown dates and times. It is alleged that the adult suspect, who is an uncle of the victim, had sexual intercourse with the now 12-year-old female minor on several occasions. The police are investigating the rape case, but no arrest has been made yet.
