Performances Galore
By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK The annual Bank Windhoek Festival pre-programme will feature two major events in the capital next week. On Wednesday, the College of the Arts Choir will have a performance at the Boiler Theatre of the Katutura Community Arts Centre at 18h00. The choir will be conducted by Fanie Dorfling. The Space Theatre at the University of Namibia will feature a commissioned Afrikaans play by Sanlam Namibia on Thursday evening. The play, written by Aldo Behrens, the main organiser of the Bank Windhoek Festival, starts at 19h00. On Friday evening at 19h00, Committed Artists of Namibia will present a double play performance at the secondary school at the village of Schlip in aid of school funds. The whole rural community is expected to attend the two-hour show. The two one-person plays that will be performed are The Porridge Queen and Living Hell, respectively starring Felicity Celento and Richard Swartz, who will be returning this Sunday after a five-show run of Living Hell at the Bravo Festival in Finland. Both 60-minutes plays are scheduled to be performed in July at the annual Grahamstown Arts Festival in South Africa under the auspices of Committed Artists of Namibia, courtesy the Franco-Namibia Cultural Centre (FNCC).
