Points up for grabs at second PTA tennis series tournament
Windhoek It’s official! Pro Tennis Academy members are readying to ruffle feathers with the 2nd tourney of the PTA tennis series lurking on the horizon. As confirmed by head coach Romeo van Wyk, the two-day event is slated for the Windhoek High School (WHS) tennis courts on March 11. Since the start of the new season, there has been a significant increase in academies, which culminated in the vast improvement of the level of play across all divisions. In the Intermediate division, newcomer Christopher Jansen secured the win during the opening tourney and will be the hunted one as the likes of Randel Kavandje and Hendrina Appolus are more than capable of beating Jansen when the second leg gets underway next weekend. In other action, Cleet Farmer underlined his class in the Advanced category with the first win of the new year. The defending champion is eager to record another victory, but will have to fend off unwanted attention from the likes Godwin Husselmann and Emmanual Bras who are looking to cause an upset. “With these kinds of constellations and the level of tennis demonstrated during the first tourney, spectators can expect some exciting action,” said head coach Van Wyk.
