Police name accident victims
WINDHOEK - The police have released the names of the six accident victims who died in a road accident last week when a pick-up truck (bakkie) collided head-on with a commercial truck on the road between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja in an accident in which seven others were seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as Lawrence Mukwazo Sizuka (55), who was the owner and driver of the pick-up truck, Ludwig Ndango (32), Markus Shibobo Matheus (36), Johannes Kahutji (28), Joseph Ndemupanda Handimba (28) and Abel Mbangu Albert, who is suspected to be in his early 20s. Their next of kin have been informed. Four other persons, Maria Konyani (42), Sandra Mwilima (6), Bobby Sizuka (8) and 9-year-old Candy Mwilima also sustained injuries and were transferred to the Katutura State Hospital. The road accident took place about 80 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo on the B1 road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo. The ill-fated GWM pick-up truck was heading for Windhoek when it collided with the Katima Mulilo-bound truck. The driver of the pick-up truck with nine passengers on board allegedly swerved into the lane of the oncoming truck as the vehicles approached each other, causing the head-on crash.  By Tunomukwathi Asino
