President Heads for Northern Campus

Mbangula OSHAKATI President Hifikepunye Pohamba will officiate at the ninth graduation ceremony of the Unam Northern campus where 375 will receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates on Thursday. The Chancellor of Unam Dr Sam Nujoma will confer these qualifications. Unam Northern Campus Marketing and Communication Officer Linus Hamunyela told New Era that both the Chancellor and the Head of State have confirmed their attendance. ""This is yet another milestone in the history of Unam Northern Campus,"" said Hamunyela. President Pohamba will attend the Unam Northern Campus graduation ceremony in Oshakati for the first time since he became Head of State more than a year ago. The fields of studies to be graduated next Thursday are Certificates in HIVAIDS Counselling and Mid-level Management, BETD, Diploma in Adult Education and Community Development, Diploma in Education (Specialisation Biology, Mathematics, and Physical Science), Diplomas in African Languages, Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery Science, Bachelor of Education, Advanced University Diploma in Nursing Science, Bachelor of Nursing Science (Advanced Practice), Masters of Nursing Science and Public Health. Amongst those invited, said Hamunyela, are the Minister of Education Nangolo Mbumba, and traditional leaders and the governors, regional and local authority councillors from Oshikoto, Oshana, Omusati and Ohangwena, as well as church leaders. More than 1 600 people are expected to attend. Tupanduleni Choir and the NDF band will entertain the ceremony, which will be held at Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre. Meanwhile, the Principal of the Ogongo College of Agriculture (OCA) Mathew Mushabati announced that the sixth graduation ceremony in conjunction with the Unam Northern Campus would be staged on the same day. But prior to the graduation day, the OCA will honour its students on April 26 by awarding merit certificates to them. OCA will confer a National Diploma in Agriculture to 29 students and a National Diploma in Forestry on five others."
