The pressure is on them, not Rebels, says Bock
With his team already well on its way out of premiership football, relegation-threatened Rebels FC mentor, Martin Bock says the pressure will be on Tura Magic going into tonight’s crucial MTC Premier League clash at the Windhoek Independence Stadium at 19h00. In a brief interview with New Era Sport yesterday, Bock insisted Rebels have nothing to lose playing Magic tonight, as they are mathematically and technically already relegated from premiership football, a scenario that piles all the pressure on Magic, who are currently sitting third on the log table. “Realistically speaking, we have nothing to gain or lose going into tonight’s match. So, I will just tell my players to go out there and enjoy themselves and strive for a win in the process. For our fans and for the credibility of the club, we will go out there and give our level best as usual, and hopefully a win or draw should come our way. But most definitely, the pressure is on Tura Magic to perform tonight,” said a relaxed Bock. With just an inlet of four points currently separating them from second-placed Black Africa, tonight’s match presents a crucial test for both teams, especially for Tura Magic, as victory could go a long way in defining the Magicians’ aspirations of finishing within the league’s top four. Tura Magic are currently sitting third with 50 points, preceded by Black Africa in second place with 54 points while African Stars are still topping the log with 62 points. In fourth place are Tigers with 49 points. However, given their impressive form of late, a victory against Rebels should be possible for Tura Magic since only a win can keep them in touching distance of Black Africa while also temporarily keeping a safe distance from Tigers, who are breathing heavily on their necks. Although the league title seems to be headed to Stars, Tura Magic coach Timo Tjongarero and his trusted soldiers are very much aware that a defeat or draw against struggling Rebels could all but defuse their top four ambitions. On the other hand, Rebels also have every reason to gun for a victory tonight, as only a win can boost their chances of ending their premiership stint with dignity and pride and will also provide a new impetus going back to First Division football come next season.
