PTA Tennis Series continues after good start
WINDHOEK - Namibia’s leading tennis players will once again have the chance to showcase their skills when the popular PTA Tennis Series resumes on Friday at the tennis courts of the Windhoek High School (WHS). The first event took place at the beginning of February with some fine tennis on display. Entries close on Wednesday, March 11. All participants will collect points for the PTA ranking once again. Throughout the series players accumulate ranking points on a 12-month rolling basis with great prizes for the overall winners of the various playing categories up for grabs at the end of the year. In the Intermediate category newcomer Melissa Khupe sits on top of the ranking after winning the first tournament. She will be one of the favourites for the upcoming event as well. Cleet Farmer one of last year’s top players and Taimi Nashiku sit in second and third place respectively. Mike Kambonde took maximum points in the Beginner’s division three weeks ago after he clinched first place. He will however face stiff competition with the likes of Megano Sheeya and Hendrina Appollus expected to battle it out for the win as well. Meanwhile, Eila Kambonde won the first event to currently occupy first place in the Mini category. Second-placed Jamilla Hungamo and third-placed Jozikee Tjaimba have their sights set on the top spot.
