RFA helps fight //Kharas locusts

The battle against invading brown locusts, causing severe damage to the //Karas region’s economy, is not yet over.

The Road Fund Administration (RFA) has stepped in to enhance the ministry of agriculture’s response to combat the locust invasion in the region with a donation of equipment worth more than N$120 000, consisting of 20 mist blowers, 200 Efekto Cypermethrins, 20 overall reflectors and 20 pairs of safety boots.

//Kharas governor Aletha Frederick is confident that with the donation, the region’s response level has been significantly improved whilst its preparedness for the next rain has been boosted.

Frederick said, since the regional council’s performance was satisfactory in combating the pest, the agriculture ministry will now be in a better position to effectively respond to its plight.

“On my behalf and that of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform and all our stakeholders, I would like to thank the considerate leadership of the Road Fund Administration for this donation and can assure you that it will be used for the intended purpose,” said the governor.

She made a humble request for more external support from the business fraternity in the region, as any contributions and helping hands towards the ministry are welcomed to fight the locusts collectively.
