Rugby Squad Ready for Senegal
By Carlos Kambaekwa WINDHOEK Following last weekend's 45-6 heavy defeat at the hands of the visiting Western Province team, it's back to the drawing board for the dejected Namibian Rugby Fifteen this weekend. The Welwitchias open their assault in Pool A of the 2011 African World Cup qualifiers against Senegal in Dakar, on Saturday. Namibia is pitted against the unknown Senegalese team and neigbours Zimbabwe in Pool A and the John Williams-led team is widely tipped to cruise past both its opponents en route to its 4th successive appearance at rugby's biggest showpiece, to be hosted by New Zealand in 2011. Coach John Williams cracked the whip and dropped five players who were included in the squad against Western Province last weekend. The centre pair of Luwayne Kotzee and JP Meyer as well as scrumhalf Colin de Koe have been cold shouldered while young lock Eugene Forbes and fellow youth international Desmond Haihambo (flank) have been both deemed surplus to requirements for the West African safari. The Namibian travelling entourage reads as follows: Johannes Hermanus Redelinghuys Hugo Horn Johannes Albertus du Toit Uakazuvara Kazombiaze Deon Pieters Jacques Nieuwenhuis Pieter Jan van Lill Tinus Du Plessis Eugene Anthony Jantjies Melrick John Africa Ryan Carter Witbooi Hendrik Mathys Van Zyl Bradley Cornell Langenhoven Arie Deon Mouton Tertius Claude Losper Hauta Tjikuzu Veii Ivan Gaya Ockert Cornelius Du Plessis Gawan Peter Esterhuizen Elrich Wilbur Jansen David Glen Philander John Heinrich Drotsky Management Gregory Olivier John Steven Williams John Robert Diergaardt Johannes Louw Jacobus Jacobs Randall Elton Louw Carel Petrus Kruger
