Rundu police recover stolen loot

RUNDU – The police in Rundu have recovered cash amounting to nearly N$80 000 that was stolen from a local business on Monday. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the theft.

“The armed robbery happened on Monday at around 12h15 when five suspects confronted and threatened the complainant with knives while collecting cash at the said store to take to the bank for banking,” said regional crime investigations coordinator Bonifatius Kanyetu.
According to Kanyetu, the suspects fled the crime scene in a getaway vehicle, a white VW Polo sedan, with a box containing cash of N$144 657.48 and a Huawei cellphone valued at N$6 000.

“We managed to recover N$78 362.30 and the Huawei cellphone. We arrested four suspects in connection with the case.  The getaway vehicle that they used during the commission of the crime was seized. One suspect managed to flee before arrest but is known, he is still on the run,” Kanyetu added.
