Russian Couple Found Murdered
By Anna Shilongo WINDHOEK Bodies of two Russian nationals, aged 51 and 44 were discovered at Plot 59 in the Okahandja District on Tuesday. The two - male and female - were identified as Russian nationals murdered with an unknown object between Saturday and Sunday. According to neighbours, the couple was renting the farm from a German national and has been farming for the past five years. The landlord is in Germany. Some of their belongings were stolen from the plot but the police have not yet quantified the stolen items. A case of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances is being probed. Police suspect two people are behind the murder and arrested one suspect yesterday afternoon while the other suspect is still at large. The victims were identified through their passports but their names are being withheld until their next of kin have been informed. According to the police public relations officer, Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, the police do not have a clue of a possible suspect(s), but police investigations continue. Amulungu declined to make any further comments, as he was waiting for a report from the Okahandja Station Commander, Chief Inspector Yolanda Uhuru. In another incident, the police arrested a 46 year-old man at Omeege, in the Oshana region over the death of his wife. According to police public relations officer, Sergeant Stephan Nuuyi, a docket was opened at around 04h00 on Tuesday, when the man reported that his wife, Maria Andanga (35), had died in her sleep. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of her death though the police said they found that her skull was fractured. After questioning the man confessed that he had fought with his wife earlier. The man was arrested and he is expected to appear in court today.
