Sally is dominating international music market
Windhoek One of Namibian songstresses, Boss Madam, or just Sally, has hit the international nerve with her new album, I am Mukwanekamba , released last week. One of the song, which is at number six on the album, Sweet Love, which now has close to 220 000 viewers on YouTube, is dominating the airwaves on various radio and TV stations in Africa and the world at large. The song was first released as a single, which was complimented by a video before the album dropped. Sweet Love hit the top 10, (number 6) on a programme called, Southern Africa Countdown on DStv’s Zambezi Magic (Channel 160) last week. The Southern Africa Countdown is the biggest video hits in Southern African Development Community (SADC), designed to support the growing SADC music industry. “It is always exciting when you cook something and then later you discover that even the people who are not from my homestead love my cooking. I would love to continue serving the international platform with more Namibian music,” says Sally. Every week viewers vote on social media and suggest videos they want on the chart. The Southern Africa Countdown also features classic SADC videos, exclusive debuts and some of the freshest videos from the region. This comes barely weeks after Sally donated N$5 000.00 in a fundraising hosted by Namibia Fish Consumption Trust to help the Omusati region’s impoverished community.
