Scholtz highlights developments at Aus
Aus !Nami#nus Constituency Office has proactively initiated and is at the forefront of promoting several development projects intended to uplift the inhabitants of Aus settlement. !Nami#nus Constituency Councillor Jan Scholtz listed several projects that have been implemented and have come to fruition for the benefit of his constituency, specifically Aus. Scholtz is content with developments in Aus, where there are currently 35 new erven already serviced and surveyed in the township of Khaubeb. From 2005 to 2016 Aus received 285 applications for residential erven. The Aus Settlement Office is scrutinising the applications and the successful applicants will soon sign lease agreements. They will be charged according to the size of their erven. Scholtz said 35 erven would be allocated to people in the next three weeks, so that they can immediately start to build their houses. One positive development is that the Township Board under the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development approved the establishment of a new township in Aus at Khaubeb Extension 1. The township will consist of houses, flats and erven for business and religious purposes. Scholtz further said the planned alienation of 26 council houses to Aus residents who have been living in those houses for 20 years and more has now been referred to the minister for approval. Once approval is obtained the houses can be transferred into the names of current tenants. He also said his office is working non-stop to do away with the bucket toilet system that should be phased out by the next financial year. An information centre in Aus will also open soon, so that young people can develop business proposals to better their lives. Scholtz further promised that Aus would soon have an ambulance to help prevent the unnecessary loss of life in the area and to help those who are ill get the needed medical care on time. This comes after Scholtz forwarded to the Ministry of Health and Social Services a request for an ambulance for Aus. He said the request was approved by Minister of Health Dr Bernard Haufiku on May 19.
