Sell Back Old Textbooks
"By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK An urgent call has been made to all part-time learners of the Namibia College of Open Learning (Namcol) countrywide to become part of a legal textbook buy-back scheme. This call came from a capital-based company, Alfresco Developers, contracted by Namcol for this pilot project. ""We are urging and targeting specifically learners of 2007 with language books still in good condition for them to be availed for collection at centres and re-use in the education system. Centre heads are available in the afternoon for the collection of these books, which will be paid for by Namcol,"" said the proprietor of the contracted company, Alfred Feris. The language textbooks qualifying for the buy-back project are Oshiwanyama, Rukwangali, Rumanyo, Thimbukushu, Silozi, Otjiherero, Afrikaans and English for grades 10 and 12. ""These collected books will be sold to the 2009 Namcol learners at affordable prices. My company is prepared to give a bursary of N$5 000 for further studies to one of the learners participating in the project. Learners wanting to participate in the project have until end of April to hand in their books,"" Feris said. "
