All set for Blue Machine’s big showdown
Windhoek It’s all systems go and Namibian boxer Julius “The Blue Machine” Indongo is more than ready to defend his WBO Africa welterweight title against Alan Komote, in honour of Namibia’s independence celebrations. The 26th Independence Boxing Bonanza will go ahead as initially planned and promoted by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy. The much-anticipated bout takes place on the 26th of this month at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the fight so far and applauded MTC Sunshine Productions for a job well done. All the required sanction fees have been paid on time, while the WBO have duly appointed officials for this boxing bonanza. In a letter signed by WBO Africa chairman Leon Varcarcel, endorsed by WBO president Francisco Paco Varcarcel, the following officials have been appointed to oversee proceedings: Supervisor will be the long serving boxing administrator, Samir Captan from Ghana. Referee for the main bout will be the tested boxing official in Deon Dwarte from South Africa. The judges are Judge Cliffort Mbelu from Cape Town, John Kaimbi and Timo Haikonda (both Namibia). The main bout will be supported by the quartet of undefeated prospects: Jeremiah Nakathila, Walter Kautondokwa, Mike Shonena, Mendu Kaungundwe. Tickets are on sale at Computicket.
