All set for the Elombe Annual Youth Festival
Windhoek All is set for the third edition of the Elombe Annual Youth Festival (EAYF) schedule for December 22-23, in Elombe Village in the Onayena Constituency of Oshikoto Region. The festival, which attracts hundreds of youth from around the country, was initiated by the Elombe Art Academy (EAA), which has been hard at work preparing for the third edition. According to EAA owner, Erastus Tsempo, the event aims to promote and develop the Elombe community and surrounding areas. He says those participating in this year’s EAYF will get an opportunity to express their opinions, talents and intelligence through various activities planned for the event. This year the festival will feature Miss Elombe beauty pageant, music performances, soccer tournaments and up to six exhibition stalls and stands, open to the young participants to showcase their entrepreneurial skills by selling different products of their choice, such as food, drinks and others. Forms for those interested in the stands are available online and can also be requested via email: phidishange@gmail.com. The event is in need of sponsorship and the organisers are appealing to charitable individuals and organisations to assist. ‘’More than 10 models have already applied to contest the beauty pageant on December 23. During the pageant, all musicians from EAA and other local musicians confirmed to deliver a massive performance,” says Tsempo, adding that the strength for EAYF lies in community unity. “Our vibrating, creativity and imagination can help it to grow stronger by shouldering the responsibility to develop and support the community best utilising talents,” says Tsempo. The EAA will also have a stand, where it will be launching its first short film titled, Efudho, offering photo-shoots and selling their art products, such as music CDs, T-shirts and other printed merchandise. Youth from all different parts in the northern regions are invited to this mega event, especially the main one on December 23.
