All set for Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup
"WINDHOEK - The 2nd edition of the annual Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup will be launched on 25 March and is slated to kick off at the Sam Nujoma stadium a week later. Khomas region are the defending champions having won the maiden edition after seeing off Erongo 2-1 in the final at Keetmanshoop last year. Dino Roman Engelbrecht and Jandjamuje Maharero scored a goal apiece for Khomas, while Amaru van Neel pulled back a consolation goal for Erongo. Oshikoto region finished 3rd after overcoming Oshana region 2-1. Otjozondjupa region won the fair play award and the Moment of Brilliance award went to Pandeni Kandjabanga of the Oshana region. Oshikoto striker, Josef Utoni, netted 11 goals in six games to win the Golden Boot Award, while Khomas’ Jandjamuje Maharero was voted overal best player of the youth tourney, while he also finished joint second as the top goal scorer with eight goals alongside Otjozondjupa’s Hezeeko Katjiukua, with Khomas acrobatic shot stopper Benni Ochurub claiming the Golden Gloves award. The first edition of this Skorpion Zinc Under-17 Cup saw the successful implementation of the El-Tracking system by which all necessary national identification documents were submitted to the organising committee for verification.
