Shikukutu hits UK for big fight night
"WINDHOEK – Namibia’s boxing sensation Sacky Shikukutu, better known as Izinyoka in boxing circles, flew out to Newcastle, United Kingdom on Sunday quite determined to achieve his longtime dream when he climbs into the ring against Frankki Gavin for the Commonwealth welterweight title on Saturday.  The hard-punching welterweight boxer is accompanied by his handler and Africa’s leading boxing trainer-cum-promoter from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy, Nestor Tobias with former boxer Siegfried ‘SBK’ Kaperu as corner man. Shikukutu is the incumbent World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa welterweight interim champion and is currently rated number 12 in the world while reigning champion Gavin is rated seven places above the Namibian in world rankings. Gavin will doubtlessly prove to be the Namibian’s toughest opponent to date entering the ring with an impressive unbeaten record of 19 fights, 18 wins and 1 draw, certainly a resume that would send shivers running riot in the belly of any potential opponent. “I’m fully aware that I will be up against a very tough opponent who is highly rated in global boxing but my trainer has done everything possible to prepare me for this big occasion,” said a confident Shikukutu. He added that the Commonwealth belt is a prestigious commodity in London and worldwide – hence his determination to do everything in his power to make sure he brings the belt home.   By Staff Reporter"
