2015-03-24Staff Report 2 WINDHOEK - Brave Warriors dribbling wizard Petrus Shitembi is still the man much talked about in the Ghanaian premiership, as his club AshantiGold on Sunday put up a star performance to brush aside Sekondi Hasaacas in a hard fought 1-0 victory to widen the gap atop the league table. With the victory, AshantiGold now tops the league with six points, with a mere five rounds of matches remaining before the curtain to the first leg of the league comes down. Title chasers and 2nd placed Aduana Stars failed to capitalise on their chances to catch up with AshantiGold after they lost their game against WAFA Sports Club on Saturday. Shitembi has joined AshantiGold on a seasonal loan from South African outfit Amazulu, but could revert back to his parent club in January. The loan deal was necessitated because Amazulu had exceeded their quota for foreign players, making the former University of Pretoria (Amatuks) midfielder surplus to requirements in the interim. Shitembi, who has so far scored more than two goals for his Ghanaian club, has been enjoying a fair share of headlines in the Ghanaian media in recent months and earlier indicated that he plans to build on his current form. “I want to help take the Brave Warriors and my club to greater heights in their respective spectrums.” Meanwhile in the South African First Division, the Namibian trio of Deon Hotto, Chris Katjiukua and Max Mbaeva at the weekend also continued with their impressive form of late when they helped their club Golden Arrows beat Natal United to reach the last 8 of the Nedbank Cup. Despite Natal United creating a dozen goal-scoring opportunities, the solid hands of Mbaeva denied United at every occasion, while Katjiukua blew away a perfect chance to put Arrows ahead earlier in the match when he headed the ball over the crossbar. As usual, Deon Hotto kept Natal United on their toes with his dangerous runs from the flanks, while he also enjoyed a fair share of proceedings in the middle of the park by connecting perfectly with Khenyeza and Andile Fikizolo.
