The newly formed Namibia Netball Premier League (NNPL) got underway to a great start, with 846 goals scored in the opening rounds this past weekend.
In a light conversation with New Era Sport, vice president of the local netball ruling body Rebekka Goagoses said they are overwhelmed with the way the league got underway, and that the number of goals scored in the first rounds can already attest to the competitiveness of the 12 teams.
“It is still far from identifying a winner, but all teams are showing their full potential in the league by bringing their A game to the courts,” she added.
The vice president noted that the level of competition is what they expected the league to be at before its inception.
“We are looking forward to better and exciting matches. The teams were weighing up their options and, in most cases, teams were testing combinations. We are sure that from the second round moving forward, it will be a different ball game,” Goagoses said.
