Sky's the Limit for Tourism SMEs
"By Desie Heita Windhoek The tourism market is offering many opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), said Jacqueline Asheeke, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations (FENATA). Small and medium entrepreneurs can start business as tour guides, offer tourist transport services, cultural activities, become booking agents, or establish bed and breakfast and other accommodation facilities. In addition, there are many other services which SMEs can offer to the market such as laundry services, offering herbs and veggies to accommodation establishments and restaurants, or the repairing services. ""The sky is the limit, just find your own niche market,"" Asheeke urged. She was speaking at the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI)'s second annual SMEs conference. The conference brought together policy makers, lawmakers, SME owners and managers, SME service providers, public and private sector representatives as well as many other key players in the development of the SME sector in Namibia.
