Society inspires Kaleb
WINDHOEK-Having collectively up to 42 group exhibitions and 5 solo exhibitions, Kaleb Haipinge, one of the much-admired and hailed cardboard prints says he was inspired by the Namibian society to be an artist.   Haipinge  who made his mark on the art industry with his recent exhibition  Part of our Society  with Titi Shilumba, exhibited recently at the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN). The exhibition was a combination  of oil and acrylic paintings inspired by life, struggle and the society that aims to combine the arts and cultures of Namibia.  Haipinge says he is currently working on his biggest project, an MTC Calendar, an art exhibition that will be hosted by MTC and it will take place the whole of next year. Local artists were invited to submit some of their best artworks, including Kaleb, whose artworks are stunning and impressive. Twelve  artists will be selected and each will get an opportunity to exhibit his/her work every month.   “Secretly, being an artist was a gift from God, and what inspired me the most is the society, the good things and bad things around us, those interesting things we see in our everyday life. I decided to use my artworks to educate the nation rather than performing music,” says Kaleb. Kaleb is also working on his sixth solo exhibition that will be displayed next year. The exhibition will focus mainly on paintings, graphic designs and mixed media. The exhibition will be under the slogan “Kaleb is a creative force at work”.     By Pinehas Nakaziko
