Sound For Sight benefit concert ready to rock!
Live music fans must not miss Saturday's 'Sound for Sight'  day/night  benefit  rock concert in Windhoek to raise funds for a much needed charitable cause at the Vintage Pub & Grill tomorrow. Once again an exciting line-up of 16 local artists and bands will be rocking the stage, with all proceeds donated to a school for the visually impaired in Khomasdal. Donna Collins reports from Swakopmund. Windhoek music lovers can get ready for a day/night collaboration of some of the best, live musicians that Namibia has to offer. This amazing charitable event is organised by musician and founder Alfred Visser who is assisted for the second consecutive year by his solid 'sound for sight' technical team. The exciting line-up this year includes; local heavy weights Penilane, Rushour, alternative three piece RAT, Desdemona, Bourbon and Traffic, As Night Fades, Daena, Gasoline, Blikweg from the coast, Solitary Man, Haak en Steek, Sonet, Miraki, Roadhouse Blues, Tripping on Cables and 'rock chic' Savannah who flew in  from Cape Town for the concert. The Sound For Sight Music Festival will be held at the open air field of the Vintage Pub & Grill in Olympia with an entrance fee of N$ 100.00 at the gate, as a much appreciated donation to the cause. Food and drinks will be available throughout the event, with the first act opening at 12:00 with bands playing late into the night - so get there early to catch the vibe. The first Sound For Sight Music Festival last year attracted over 650 people, increasing awareness for the cause, raising nearly N$37 000, which is administered by the Wilku Trust, a registered trust fund.  The Sound For Sight Music Festival aims to raise funds annually through live music, and to act as a financial hand for children who are visually handicapped. Funds are used to purchase everything from food, clothing, linen and personal hygiene items, to expensive educational equipment such as an embossing machine and audio tablets. There are over 120 children in the Khomasdal School for Visually Impaired, ranging from Grades 0 – 10, with most of them living in the hostel. Although this school is government funded, most of these kids still have very basic needs as most of them come from low income families. The Sound For Sight team would like to thank the following sponsors of making this year's event a huge success, are: Radiowave 96.7 FM, Aucor, Ricoh and CIC Namibia. This is going to be another fantastic year for Sound For Sight, so be sure not to miss out on the explosion of live music, good food and heartwarming charity. For more information see the Sound For Sight Facebook page and give them a hearty like - even better come to and enjoy the experience. (Issued on behalf of Sound For Sight)
