St Pauls, WHS winners in FNB Classic Clashes
Windhoek The last weekend saw Windhoek High School (WHS) rugby team take on Elnatan School of Stampriet in a thrilling encounter, which saw WHS beat Elnatan by 41-38. WHS kicked off with a bang putting a number of tries on the scoreboard but Elnatan was not to be ruled out as they came from behind to lead the game. As the match was about to end matters swung firmly in the home side’s favour, as they proved too strong for the visitors in the end. Christoff Steenkamp of WHS won Namib Mills Hero of the Day Award while Rainer Augustyn, also fromWHS, was the winner of the FNB Man of the Match award. Jan Dames, WHS Rugby Coach said: “The match was well attended, and the spirit amongst the supporters was very good. I’m very proud of my team, they displayed exceptional passion, endurance and a hunger to win. I would like to thank our opposing team Elnatan Private School for playing very well and exhibiting phenomenal sportsmanship throughout the match. My sincere gratitude goes out to the sponsors, FNB and Namib Mills for believing in and supporting our school sports codes”. On the football field, action was also guaranteed when St Paul’s College and St. George’s met in another action-packed match. At half time the score was 2 all, but St. Paul’s managed to beat St Georges with 4 goals to 2 in the end. Both Namib Mills Hero, Tristan de Lange and FNB Man of the Match Brian Kimber are from St. Paul’s College. This weekend will be filled with netball and rugby action when Otjiwarongo Secondary School takes on Etosha Secondary School; Moria Private School will confront Edugate Academy while the final game of the weekend will be a rugby match between Tsumeb Gymnasium and WAP at the Tsumeb Gymnasium School.
