Our Star of the Week is MTC for having invested over N$85 million in rural electrification during the last two years and expressing their intention to invest another N$11 million to build power lines to various isolated areas across the country. The mobile giant’s rural electrification drive, which is hailed as a catalyst for development, forms part of their 081 project that aims to provide close to 100% network connectivity. The funds invested so far has resulted in over 133 power lines that now provide electricity to rural areas that previously had no power. MTC is now working on building another 105 power lines meant to power not only their base stations but the entire communities.
