Our Star of the Week is Namibia’s Paralympics sprint sensation Ananias Shikongo, who on Monday delivered an inspiring performance to scoop a bronze medal in the highly competitive men’s T11 100m race – making it Namibia’s second medal at the Paralympics Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Johannes Nambala won the country’s first medal at the Games – a silver medal in the men’s T13 100m race. Shikongo and his guide Even Tjiviju ended third in the men’s T11 100m race, clocking a regional record of 11.11 seconds. World record holder David Brown of America and his guide Jerome Avery won with a new Paralympic record time of 10.99 seconds, while Brazil’s Felipe Gomes and his guide Jonas de Lima Silva finished second.
