‘Struggle kids’ celebrate going for training
It was a reason to celebrate for the children born during the liberation struggle, called struggle kids, who are camping at Oshakati after hearing that they would be relocated to Berg Aukas in Grootfontein and Farm Du Plessis in Omaheke to undergo training in different vocational trades, including plumbing, agriculture, mechanics, culinary skills, and hair-dressing. The offer has only been made to children born in exile. Those who were born in the country are yet to hear their fate on Tuesday after the Governor of Oshana Region, Clemens Kashuupulwa, makes further enquiries. “I have taken note of all the questions raised here and I will consult and come back to you,” Kashuupulwa said on Saturday after delivering the message on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister on Saturday. The group will be hosted at the two farms for a period of six months or as the situation dictates, while the government addresses their plight regarding job opportunities. “In the meantime, the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, in close collaboration with the Social Security Commission, has been approached to provide food and other necessities for six months or as the situation dictates,” read the statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister.
