Windhoek The police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man, identified as Petrus Simon, who was found hanging from a tree at Lafrenz Industrial Area near Katutura around 16h20 on Sunday. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said a suicide note was left behind and Simon’s next of kin have been informed. According to the weekly police crime report a further suicide was reported at around 11h50 on Friday at Richard Kamuhuka Street in Katutura, where 42-year-old Alfeus Blackforce Uirab was found hanging from a rope in his shack. A suicide note was also left behind and his next of kin have been informed. In Luderitz a man, identified as Kauko Kalush-Kalush, was found hanging from a rope in his room at New Location at around 19h00 on Friday. No suicide note was found and his next of kin are informed. At Kuisebmund the police reported that Jaco Laurento Vries, 23, died on the scene on Sunday morning after he was stabbed during an argument among a group of young men. The incident happened at Sushi Bar between 02h00 and 03h00. His next of kin have been informed. One suspect was arrested in connection with the murder. At Build Together and Bebi Location in Katima Mulilo a 26-year-old woman was attacked and raped by two unknown men on Friday at around 23h00. The police report said the victim was allegedly walking with her boyfriend when they were attacked. No one has been arrested yet in connection with the assault. Meanwhile, in Aranos, a 17-year-old suspect was arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old girl without her consent at Nuweros. The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim before raping her on Friday between 18h00 and 19h00. At Oipapake village in the Ohangwena Region, an Angolan juvenile, named Erastus Nangolo Hawala, age unknown, was swimming in a water pond when he drowned. Although the incident occurred on Friday at about 15h00, his body was only retrieved by the police on Saturday. His next of kin have been informed. An inquest docket has been opened following the death of one-year-old Brandley Mohammed Weyulu in a shackfire in Iipumbu ya Shilongo street in Henties Bay shortly after midnight on Saturday. The cause of the fire that cost the toddler’s life has not yet been established.
