As many local artists struggle to keep up with lyrical genius Sunday Shipushu, known as Sunny Boy he keeps them at bay by always being on top of his game.
Sunny Boy recently revealed his new record deal with Rockstar ONE, OAS1SONE, Rockstar Television and Rockstar Publishing businesses, which will get his music to the world. He told Entertainment Now! that the deal gets him from Ongwediva to the world, something he has always dreamt of. “All online streaming platforms, I will be there. You will finally get to hear me from my last album to my future works effortlessly with a few couple of dollars at least,” he jokingly said.
The RockStar marketing and media promotions team for the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) has been keeping an eye on the Hikwa star for some time now he revealed. “After the finale when I won best Kwaito Artist of the Year. They approached me, who was I to say no to my dreams calling? They expressed how talented I am which is not news to me ha, ha, but also told me that they wanted to take my talent and showcase it to the rest of Africa and I was like heavens yes,” he explained.
Since the inception of the NAMAs, Rockstar has been the company that has organised the awards ceremony. The deal will also entail that Sunny Boy will enjoy premium placement on the number one African premium content and live stream platform OAS1SONE and Rockstar Television which has a subscriber base of over 260 million paying customers across their exclusive partnerships.
After having a whirlwind of a year, the deal has come at an opportune time for the local star. He feels ecstatic, excited and very proud of himself, as this will allow his brand to grow.
“All glory to God who blessed me with the talent to change the world through my music. My brand will be all over and I’m hoping it attracts and takes me to fellow musicians that I have admired and been wanting to work with plus other companies that I’m sure that will see me as a force to be reckoned with and will request for my services,” he expressed.
When quizzed how much the record deal is worth he calmly stated that if he applies himself to the best of his ability the zeros are gonna grow.
