2016-06-08Staff Report 2 WINDHOEK Standard Bank has taken strides to invest in talented young people and also extended the process by looking at improving the lives of young people in a way that would be meaningful and lasting through the Standard Bank Graduate Programme. The first intake of graduates joining the bank under the newly introduced annual Graduate Programme was early this March. One such student is Naky Naris, who studied Bachelor of Information Technology in Systems, Administration and Networks at the Polytechnic of Namibia. In this interview, courtesy of the bank’s public relations division, she gives her impressions of the programme. Why did you choose to join Standard Bank Graduate programme? I always wanted to work for a large organisation and Standard Bank Namibia is one of those large firms. I chose this graduate programme, because I’m sure that I’m going to gain a lot of experience out of it. Hobbies/Interests? I love singing, dancing and exploring new technologies. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Usakos. Your favourite quote? My favourite quote is by Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” Do you have any unusual habits? None that I know of. What attracted you to Standard Bank? What attracted me to Standard Bank Namibia are their products and services and the fact that it aims to grow its people. What have been your key achievements since joining Standard Bank? I have been an introvert and slowly but surely I am becoming an extrovert and I’m liking it. What are you reading at the moment? Comptia A+ Certification Study Guide, as I want to do my A+ certifications. What do you do to unwind after a long day’s work? After work, I unwind by taking a long shower and watch a movie or series and when I’m not sleepy, I like to study. 2016-06-08Staff Report 2
