Taxi Murder Suspect in Court
By Francis Mukuzunga WINDHOEK The taxi driver who shot and killed another motorist at the Katutura shopping centre last Thursday evening, appeared at an initial hearing at the Katutura magistrate's court on Monday. Petros Ipinge Chimote (29), the alleged culprit, is being charged with the murder of Moses Kavaka (37), and has been remanded in custody. Katutura magistrate, Uatjo Uanivi, postponed the hearing to allow police to carry out further investigations into the case. It is alleged that on the day the crime was committed, the accused is alleged to have been incensed by the late Kavaka's remarks on his style of driving at the shopping centre. The accused is said to have fired a pistol at his victim, killing him instantly. The deceased was employed by Khomas Security Services in Windhoek. Meanwhile, a family spokesperson told New Era yesterday that the funeral service for the late Kavaka is scheduled for Saturday of this week prior to his burial at Oponganda cemetery later on the same day.
