A 16-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a relative early this week at a village in the Okalongo constituency of the Omusati region.

According to the region’s crime investigations coordinator Moses Simaho, the suspect allegedly coerced the victim out of her bedroom, where she was sleeping, and chased her into the bush, where he threatened her with a knife before allegedly forcing her to have sexual intercourse with
him.

Simaho said the suspect then allegedly dragged the girl to his bedroom, where he again raped her.

After the victim reported the incident to her parents, they immediately alerted the police. The suspect then packed his clothes and fled into Angola.

The victim was taken to hospital for further medical examinations. Police have appealed to the public to report any information regarding the suspect to any police station.
